Remembering an Age of Innocence

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." - Albert Camus When I look at the photograph of me at 4 years old, running through Vasona Park in Los Gatos, not a care in the world (or a shirt on my back), I see an innocent freedom there. I really didn't know any other way. My parents raised me to notice all moments, to make a song out of suffering and to work hard at being happy. From the stories my mom has been willing to share, I understand that it was challenging to be that carefree, to trust that everything would work out and to not worry when it didn't. Don't get me wrong: there was darkness in those days. Unc
