Arrive Cairns Oct 4, 2019

Depart Cairns Oct 12, 2019

Proposed itinerary, subject to change:

  • Arrive at Cairns Airport and travel to Cairns hotel. Evening yoga practice. Dinner on your own.

  • Early buffet breakfast at hotel before you board your catamaran for the Great Barrier Reef. Spend 3 days and 2 nights of snorkeling and SCUBA diving near Norman Reef; yoga practices will be dependent on the number of dives you choose to participate in. You'll have 5 opportunities to get into the water on the first and second day and 2-3 opportunities on the last day before you transfer back to the marina.

  • Travel south of Cairns to a yoga retreat center for dinner and evening practice. You'll stay at the center for 5 days and 4 nights of yoga practices, jungle accommodations and meals that include breakfast and dinner. Why not lunch? Here's why: the center is located near another part of the Great Barrier Reef and you will have more opportunities to book excursions, many of which take place during lunch. If you choose to stay at the center and relax by the pool or on the nearby beach, the center offers lunch that you can purchase.

  • Note: navigating the retreat center requires you to be in good physical condition as some paths are steep with limited lighting.

  • Travel north again for a day trip to the jungle town of Kuranda and interaction with Australia's unique wildlife, including feeding the 'roos and cuddling a koala! Lunch is on your own. Experience the rainforest via a gondola ride back to Cairns.

  • Arrive back in Cairns at your hotel. Evening yoga practice. Dinner on your own. Last night in Queensland.

  • Buffet breakfast together then travel back to Cairns Airport to either continue to the Outback or return to the US.

Arrive Alice Springs Oct 12, 2019

Depart Alice Springs Oct 19, 2019

Proposed itinerary, subject to change:

  • Arrive in Alice Springs airport and travel to hotel. Afternoon yoga practice. Relax by the pool or elsewhere at the hotel or explore the town. Lunch and dinner on your own.

  • Spend 1 night at Alice Springs hotel. Rise and shine early for a quick box breakfast before you board your 4WD air conditioned bus for your 4 days and 3 nights of camping in the outback! .

  • Travel through cattle lands while dodging wild horses, camels and kangaroos. Stops along the way to Uluru may include opportunities to ride a camel or feed emus. Lunch at a campsite.

  • Tour Uluru with an Aboriginal guide (size dependent) and watch the colors of the rock change as the sun sets. Return to the campsite for yoga around the campfire, dinner, stories and a good night's sleep.

  • Over the next few days you'll learn how the land was formed, history of the different explorers who landed (or didn't land) here and some of the knowledge that the Aboriginals share about the stars, flora, fauna and more. You'll hike in the mornings in order to avoid the heat.

  • Note: navigating the hikes requires you to be in good physical condition as paths have uneven terrain and typically have significant elevation changes. Hikes are between 1-2 hours.

  • Uluru, King's Creek Canyon, Kata Tjuta and Watarrka are some of the sites you may visit, but the group size will determine if there are other sites to see. Yoga practices will depend on that day's activities but will usually occur in the morning before breakfast.

  • After 3 nights of camping in tents (or under the brilliant stars if you choose), you'll return to your hotel in Alice Springs. This is the last night of the retreat. We'll hold yoga practice in the early evening. Dinner on your own.

  • Travel back to the Alice Springs airport for your flight back home (usually includes a layover in Sydney, not included in the retreat costs).
